Autism Friendly Hotel To Protect Special Children

By Cynthia Jackson

Mental care is very important to protect each and every one of us against societal discrimination. Some thought that is has already become a norm since the majority has been tolerating it. Tolerance does not mean it is already acceptable. That is why some institutions have supported an autism friendly hotel for societal awareness.

Parents have been taking care of these children and are responsible for giving lifelong affective and care. These individuals are given priority in our community because they do not act and behave as normal people do. They have the privilege to be given special attention especially when their tantrums occur.

The society should be alarmed with how our actions affect these special individuals. Sometimes, we are not even aware of our gestures and words that might affect them. Being sensitive to the emotions of other people is important. Special children are aware of their unusual nature and they tend to withdraw themselves from the public. They have intense feelings of strangeness and feel like they have been alienated in our society.

For example, in Hotel Port aux Basques, the owner acknowledges the importance of providing autistic individuals the comfort they need. Cathy Lomond, the owner of this luxurious hotel, wanted to make these children feel like they are still at home. During travels and long flights, parents with an autistic child do not feel like they are having a vacation.

These hotels are also offering care services for these individuals as a favor for their parents. It would not be easy to take care of these kids because they speak, think and act differently. That is why, these care givers are trained on how to interact with special individuals especially when tantrums occur.

Cathy Lomond, an owner of a luxurious hotel, has seen these common problems and has felt the hassle of their parents. Her hotel, Hotel Port aux Basques is now providing care services for autistic children. Their services include playrooms and care giving to assist their customers who have autistic kids. Their goal is to reduce the inconvenience of the family and give them a better vacation experience.

They believe that their parents also need a time to rest and enjoy the rest of their vacation while ensuring the safety and entertainment of their kids. Parents are grateful for their initiative and as a result, they only make reservations with specific hotels which give these kinds of services and accommodations. Our community must also contribute to the wellbeing of these individuals.

Hotels provided colorful rooms for these children as they day care centers so that while their parents are enjoying their stay, these kids are also enjoying their time. They have abundant toys, game stations, and many other facilities to entertain them. Psychological institutions have also supported this movement to assure the betterment of special kids.

It might be the perfect time to break this erroneous norm and start building a more positive environment. Mental health awareness among people is the first step in resolving this dilemma. Discrimination must never be considered as a societal norm.
