By definition there is a difference between joy and happiness, joy is the inner state that is rarely affected by the happenings and normally at peace regardless of the outward situation while happiness is directly dependent to the happenings on the surrounding and circumstances. Many people are able to pretend and appear happy regardless of the misery and agony that they go through, it is clear, though, that when an individual does not show much while projecting a calm orientation it means they are genuinely fulfilled.
