For An Experience In Hiking Puerto Vallarta Should Be Prioritized

By Sarah Green

Long walks in the countryside are preferably referred to by the name hiking in Canada and the United States. The walk is usually made along footpaths. Walking is different from this practice because it only involves short distances and commonly occurs in urban settings. In other places, different terms are used for this practice, including hillwalking, fell walking, backpacking, tramping, and rambling. When in need for hiking Puerto Vallarta should be the place to visit.

The idea of going for hikes is an old one, tracing its origin to the 18th century. This idea came up as people changed their attitudes toward landscape and nature, in association with the Romantic movement. Before the eighteenth century, the activity was mostly associated with poverty and vagrancy. In the US, Abel Crawford cleared a path 8.5 miles long to lead to the summit of Mount Washington in 1819. The path has remained the oldest mostly used hiking trail in the country.

Today, different countries have different long distance trails that are followed by hikers. Major examples include Grande Rota in Portugal, National Trails in UK, the Spanish Gran Recorrido, Grote Routepaden in Holland, and the US National Trail System among many others. Many countries such as Belgium, New Zealand, Nepal, Spain, France, Australia, the US, Canada, and the UK have long networks of trails.

There are several different kinds of tools and equipment people carry during a hike. The kind of equipment carried will often be determined by the length of the hike. People who go on day hikes generally bring food, water, rain-proof gear, and a map. Hiking boots are usually essential for mountain walking and backpacking. Maneuvering rough terrain require protection gear and some sort of stability equipment.

Different clubs for hikers recommend different items to hikers. Some of the items recommended by the Mountaineers hiking club include fire starter, knife, flashlight, sunscreens, trekking poles, a compass, sunglasses, and first aid kit. Other clubs recommend adding an emergency blanket, gloves, insect repellent, and a hat to the list. GPS navigation equipment and route cards are the commonest guiding equipment used.

In most cases, hikers prefer to venture out in large numbers, and this affects the environment negatively in several ways. For example, firewood collection is done for several years in a forested area, it is likely to become deforested. Similarly, hikers scare sensitive animals away from their natural habitats.

Rules have been devised to minimize the impact of hikers on the environment. These rules apply more in parks and other protected areas. For instance, wood fires are banned and camping must only be done in established campsites. There is also a quota on hikers and rules exist about how to dispose and pack faecal matter.

Human waste has a lot of impact on the environment because it can contaminate watersheds and cause diseases in other hikers. It is recommended to use catholes that are at least sixty meters away from water sources. The cathole must be deep enough and must be covered well after use.
